About The Position

The Regional Service Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and validating company medical equipment within an assigned geographic territory. Serving as the primary technical representative for customers by delivering timely, high-quality service while ensuring regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. This position works independently with minimal supervision, manages regional service activities, and collaborates with internal teams to support customer needs and company objectives. This position requires extensive travel throughout an assigned multi-state region. Candidates must maintain a primary residence within 120 miles of Chicago, Illinois, or be willing to relocate to the area before their start date.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of field service, biomedical equipment, medical device, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management software.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and the ability to travel extensively via automobile and occasional air travel.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, operate hand tools and diagnostic instruments, and frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb.
  • Ability to work effectively in clinical, laboratory, and hospital environments.
  • This position requires extensive travel across multiple states that are assigned to this regional position.
  • Candidates must maintain a primary residence within a 120-mile radius of Chicago, IL (or relocate prior to employment).

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain company equipment according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, upgrades, and system validations.
  • Complete installation qualifications, operational testing, and customer acceptance procedures.
  • Analyze service requests, diagnose technical issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Ensure customer equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships through responsive communication and exceptional customer service.
  • Educate customers on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Escalate recurring issues and recommend product or process improvements to management.
  • Plan and prioritize daily travel and service schedules to maximize efficiency and customer response times.
  • Maintain service inventory, tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in operational condition.
  • Monitor regional parts usage and communicate inventory needs to ensure service readiness.
  • Support technicians in other territories as business needs require.
  • Complete service documentation accurately and promptly, including work orders, service reports, maintenance records, and expense reports.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, FDA regulations, HIPAA requirements, and customer site procedures.
  • Follow all safety protocols while working in hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare environments.
  • Maintain technical proficiency through ongoing training, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Stay current with new products, software updates, and service procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and technical knowledge sharing.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
