About The Position

Planned Parenthood Action Oregon (PPAO) is hiring a Regional Field Organizer to build grassroots power and mobilize communities throughout the Salem/Eugene region. This position is employed by Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette (PPCW) and works in support of PPAO. PPAO is the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood in Oregon, working to protect and expand access to sexual and reproductive health care through grassroots organizing, public education, electoral engagement, and advocacy. The role focuses on turning community support into action and building lasting power for sexual and reproductive health and rights across Oregon.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of organizing, advocacy, or related volunteer experience
  • Understanding of local, state, and federal legislative and political systems
  • Experience engaging volunteers, including comfort with outreach and “cold calling” for volunteer recruitment, voter education, and supporter mobilization
  • Experience recruiting and growing an active volunteer or supporter base
  • Ability to inspire and mobilize people around reproductive health and rights
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Experience and understanding of racial equity and working collaboratively with communities of color and/or immigrant communities
  • Commitment to creating organizing spaces where BIPOC, LGBTQ+ people, and other historically marginalized communities can participate, lead, and thrive
  • Valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Knowledge of grassroots organizing strategies, tactics, and tools
  • Experience with VAN, EveryAction, Hustle, or similar organizing platforms
  • BA/BS in a related field or comparable professional experience
  • Spanish language skills or other language skills commonly used within PPAO’s service areas

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with supporters, volunteers, voters, community partners, and advocates throughout the assigned region.
  • Recruit, train, and lead volunteers and advocates.
  • Build relationships with community members, supporters, voters, and grassroots partners.
  • Organize voter engagement and community mobilization efforts.
  • Lead phone banks, canvasses, rallies, visibility events, tabling, grassroots lobbying, and other field activities.
  • Mobilize supporters around local, state, and federal policy priorities.
  • Collaborate with coalition partners on reproductive health, reproductive justice, and cross-movement work.
  • Grow PPAO’s supporter base through community outreach and constituency organizing.
  • Help develop volunteers into leaders who can organize and mobilize others.
  • Maintain accurate supporter and organizing data.
  • Respond quickly when political or community developments require rapid mobilization.
