About The Position

This role is for a Regional Environmental Health & Safety Specialist in Florida, responsible for promoting and maintaining the environmental safety and health program, including wellness and security, as it applies to employee safety. The position reports to the Regional Environmental Health and Safety Leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental or Safety Sciences/Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • One or more safety-related professional certification desired (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHSM).
  • A minimum of 3 years of practical environmental health and safety management experience at a medium-large site preferred.
  • General knowledge of Cal-OSHA (preferred), EPA, MSHA, DOT.
  • Experience in the interpretation of federal, provincial, state, local, environmental and safety standards.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Computer experience in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, and Word) and EHS data management system (e.g., Gensuite).
  • Ability to motivate, engage and influence others.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including written and verbal in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction and strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with leading and coordinating safety process efforts in commercial sales/service offices.
  • Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and jobsite visits with technicians at customer sites.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of safety, occupational health, and environmental records in compliance with OSHA, DOT, provincial, state, or other regulatory agencies and Trane procedures.
  • Implement Trane safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Analyze safety data to coordinate safety efforts for continual improvement and participate in department Lean processes.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of annual safety training in assigned area offices.
  • Conduct new-hire safety training and support the implementation and purchasing of required PPE.
  • Conduct in-person high-risk training and assign online training.
  • Ensure regional training, Qualified Person, PPE, and inspection databases are updated and maintained.
  • Participate on corporate teams to assist in the development of safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely processing of safety and/or environmental invoices and purchase requisitions.
  • Coordinate and lead Safety Committees in assigned areas and complete action items.
  • Participate in the investigation of injuries, near misses, incidents, and accidents, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Utilize the company EHS platform (Benchmark|Gensuite) for assigning and monitoring inspections, concerns, near miss reports, and generating reports.
  • Support the review and mitigation of safety concerns through business platforms like XOi and ProCore.
  • Ensure regular completion of inspections and audits in assigned area offices, assisting inspectors with corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Oversee the administration of the workers' compensation program, including working with the insurance carrier and administering the return-to-work program.
  • Represent the organization in community and/or industry safety groups and programs.
  • Assist in the evaluation of contractors as part of the regional contractor qualification program.
  • Assist other Trane Technologies businesses as needed.
  • Cover the regional geography, spending time with technicians on jobsites and rotating through regional offices, with administrative and regulatory paperwork or safety concern follow-up conducted in the base office.
