About The Position

The Regional Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading and driving environmental, health, safety, and regulatory compliance performance across a designated operating unit(s). This role partners with plant leadership, operations, engineering, maintenance, human resources, and corporate EHS teams to establish a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and support operational excellence. The Regional EHS Manager serves as both a strategic leader and hands-on resource to ensure all facilities maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations while advancing continuous improvement initiatives in safety and environmental performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-site manufacturing experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing OSHA and environmental compliance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory requirements.
  • Proven leadership and influencing skills across multiple organizational levels.
  • Strong incident investigation and root cause analysis capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel extensively within assigned region.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting high-speed manufacturing, packaging, plastics, paper, or converting operations preferred.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional)
  • CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist)
  • CHMM or other relevant environmental certifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of OU EHS strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Drive a proactive safety culture focused on injury prevention and employee engagement through Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles.
  • Coach and influence plant leadership teams on EHS accountability and ownership.
  • Facilitate safety leadership training, audits, and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Promote employee involvement through safety committees, observations, and engagement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.
  • Maintain and oversee environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance activities across assigned facilities.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and communicate impacts to plant leadership and corporate teams.
  • Lead or support interactions with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
  • Lead investigations for serious injuries, environmental incidents, near misses, and significant property damage events.
  • Ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions are completed effectively and sustainably.
  • Identify high-risk activities and implement mitigation plans.
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct and support EHS audits, inspections, and assessments at assigned facilities.
  • Develop corrective action plans and ensure timely closure of findings.
  • Benchmark best practices and standardize EHS programs across the region.
  • Support implementation of company EHS management systems and standards.
  • Partner with environmental compliance team to monitor programs including air emissions, stormwater, wastewater, waste management, hazardous materials, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of required environmental reports and documentation.
  • Support environmental improvement and waste reduction initiatives.
  • Ensure effective EHS onboarding and recurring training programs are implemented.
  • Mentor plant-level EHS professionals and operational leaders.
  • Support development of site-specific emergency response and preparedness programs.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams on new equipment, process changes, capital projects, and facility modifications to ensure EHS considerations are integrated.
  • Participate in operational reviews and strategic planning activities.
  • Support workers’ compensation and return-to-work programs in partnership with HR.
