About The Position

Oak Street Health, a part of CVS Health, helps older adults stay healthier and live fuller lives through its 230 centers across 27 states. Their value-based care model consistently delivers better patient experiences and outcomes. As a Regional Director of Operations, you will play a critical role in supporting Oak Street Health patients, providers, and business by managing operational rigor and oversight across multiple centers within a geography. This role reports to the Regional Vice President and collaborates closely with regional leaders such as the Senior Medical Director, the Population Health Director, and the Regional Director of Growth. The center Practice Managers, along with other regional resources, will report to the Regional Director of Operations (a team of 4-9). Accountability for predetermined operational metrics and budget management is crucial for success. This leader should be a strong communicator who builds relationships quickly and is passionate about working in a fast-paced, results-driven organization. A track record of building strong cohesive teams with a patient-first and operational sustainability mentality is a must-have.

Requirements

5 or more years of experience in a supervisory role in a clinical or medical setting
At least 2 years of multi-site experience
Undergraduate degree required
Exceptional organization, reliability, and independence
Passion for mentorship, coaching, and team development
Strong problem-solving orientation with the ability to identify operational gaps and implement practical, sustainable solutions
Ability to manage multiple priorities across a broad set of stakeholders and departments in a matrixed organization
Excellent interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills
Strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate regional and organizational priorities into clear operational plans, resource decisions, and measurable outcomes
Data fluency, including the ability to interpret operational, financial, patient experience, and clinical performance metrics to identify trends, diagnose issues, and drive decision-making
Experience with P&L ownership, including managing budgets, evaluating financial performance, balancing investment decisions, and driving accountability for results across multiple centers
Strong execution skills, with the ability to lead initiatives from planning through implementation, sustain change over time, and ensure consistent follow-through across teams and markets
Demonstrated ability to hold leaders accountable for performance standards while building a high-support, high-expectation culture
Travel required to centers within geography (80%)
US work authorization

Responsibilities

Multi-Center Operational Rigor with a focus on patient experience and engagement
Ensure all centers are operationally efficient and optimizing resources for patients
Deep ownership of and expanded focus on patient experience, gathering teammate and patient information to inform development of best-in-class customer service experience
Focus on schedule management, patient responsiveness, and clinical outcomes
Continuously improving sites through proactive identification and improvement of operational opportunities
Problem solving with center level leadership and sustainable solution creation
Promotion of standardization to OSH best practices and SOPs to promote quality control
Best practice sharing and coordination across centers and markets
P&L ownership / financial stewardship
Own regional operational performance with clear accountability for P&L results across centers, including labor, controllable expenses, productivity, and operational investments
Monitor financial trends and operating performance across the region, using data to identify risks, surface opportunities, and drive actions that improve both patient experience and business results
Partner with regional and center leadership to make sound resource allocation decisions, balancing service, quality, growth, and financial performance
Translate financial performance into clear operational priorities for center leaders, ensuring teams understand where performance is on track and where corrective action is needed
Drive disciplined follow-through on performance improvement plans when centers are off track against budget, productivity, or other key operational metrics
Coach and develop Practice Managers to strengthen business acumen, including how to interpret performance metrics, understand cost drivers, and connect day-to-day operational decisions to P&L outcomes
Implementation of Clinic Operations Programming and Improvements
Launch new initiatives, whether centrally driven or regionally driven, that will enhance daily operations
Serve as the conduit to the corporate clinical operations teams to provide feedback on new initiatives
Partner with regional leadership to identify workflow impact across service, outreach, clinical teams
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in all things operational for corporate initiatives
Leverage best practices when it comes to clinical implementation and project management
Development and Management of Center Operations Leaders
Instill collaborative culture between operational leaders in the region
Onboard, train and coach new Practice Managers, with responsibility for outcomes
Conduct independent operational reviews on performance, quality, and other metrics
Support Practice Managers in team development and build a regional cohort culture for service and clinical team members for consistency across centers
Lead efforts in partnership with other regional leaders to support overall employee engagement scores
Ambassador for DE&I initiatives across region
Personify and cultivate Oak Street Health’s mission to rebuild healthcare as it should be within the Region
Other duties as assigned
