About The Position

The Regional Director of Operations (RDO), reporting directly to the Divisional Director of Operations, provides strategic operational leadership to assigned senior living communities. The RDO is responsible for driving performance outcomes, strengthening community leadership teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing financial operations, and upholding the organization’s standards for resident experience and service excellence. This role serves as a key resource and advisor to Executive Directors, supporting efficient operations, high-quality service delivery, and long-term community success. This role requires frequent weekly travel across assigned communities and includes an auto and phone allowance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, OR 9+ years of relevant operational leadership experience.
  • Applicable state licensure or certification as required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of senior housing operations experience with proven leadership and organizational skills.
  • Experience supervising Executive Directors and providing operational direction across multiple communities.
  • Must possess clear knowledge of assisted living, memory care, and independent living regulations in all states within the assigned region.
  • Strong understanding of department functions within senior living communities, including housekeeping, resident care, maintenance, dietary, and business office operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with older adults.
  • Demonstrated experience in staffing, team development, and retention.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, adapt to frequent interruptions, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong respect for resident rights, confidentiality, and high service standards.
  • Exceptional organizational and project-management skills; self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgment aligned with the company’s mission, values, and safety priorities.
  • High level of customer service, hospitality, curiosity, and professionalism when interacting with residents, families, employees, and visitors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), internet browsers (Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer), Welcome Home CRM, and electronic medical record platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Executive Directors in assigned communities with development of their management teams, including interviewing, hiring, training, and coaching/counseling.
  • Support Executive Directors in meeting or exceeding budgeted occupancy goals by ensuring communities are always tour-ready, completing post-tour follow-ups, and holding the Director of Sales accountable.
  • Oversee each community’s satisfaction survey process and partner with Executive Directors to achieve the highest possible satisfaction levels.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and confirm each community remains in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct monthly budget variance reviews with each community.
  • Review each community’s spend-down sheet/DOMO report at least once weekly and communicate variances and resolutions to the DDO in a timely manner.
  • Conduct routine community visits and use site visit checklists. Conduct timely follow-up with the Executive Director and/or other department heads to make sure deficiencies are addressed, working with other departments as needed.
  • Oversee open positions in each assigned community. Ensure each department leader is filling their open positions in a timely manner and with the right candidates. Monitor time-to-fill data and turnover rates in each assigned community.
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation with new Executive Directors thoroughly ensuring that their onboarding experience is positive and informational. Conduct follow-up training when needed.
  • Provide leadership consistent with key servant-leadership principles, including effective listening, empathy, awareness, and persuasion.
  • Ensure that all Executive Directors are following the communication expectations policy, while also adhering to the policy themselves.
  • Educate Executive Directors on using DOMO and related systems to identify opportunities early and implement effective solutions.
  • Perform conflict intervention and resolution for customers, families, employees, and other impacted parties while practicing company mission and core values.
  • Travel as needed, up to four (4) days per week; overnight travel may be required.
