About The Position

The Regional Director of Finance serves as a crucial liaison between the Corporate Office and various Properties, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. This role involves reviewing and approving financial statements, forecasts, cash flows, and balance sheets, while also ensuring the adequacy of support and documentation for all accounts. The position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and timeliness of P&L statements through effective workflow planning and close management. A key aspect of this role is ensuring property compliance with USALI, GAAP, and Company accounting policies, as well as legal requirements and contractual obligations. The Regional Director of Finance will also be involved in tax and internal/external audits, collaborate with other finance professionals to share best practices, and act as a subject matter expert for finance division matters. Furthermore, the role includes coaching and mentoring direct reports, managing property transitions, and actively participating in the recruitment of finance team members.

Requirements

  • Business Acumen – Understanding, utilizing, and analyzing business information.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years’ experience in finance or accounting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to generate enthusiasm and speak knowledgeably about financial planning, systems administration, and hotel accounting best practices.
  • Experience developing financial forecasting, budgets, cash flow forecasting and the preparation of financial reporting and analysis.
  • Confident, proactive, and positive attitude; energetic and cooperative team player; eager to contribute and improve efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of hotel finance, hotel information and financial systems.
  • Hotel finance/accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced, multi-unit hospitality (food & beverage or hotel) environment preferred.
  • Experience in working with Profit Sword (or other Budgeting and Planning enterprise-level software) and Enterprise Resource Planning/Accounting platforms strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between the Corporate Office and Properties, advising of any concerning matters promptly.
  • Review and sign off on all financial statements, forecasts, cash flows, and balance sheets.
  • Review balance sheet accounts, ensuring adequate support and documentation for all accounts, and creating plans to correct deficiencies.
  • Ensure P&L accuracy and timeliness through adequate accounting workflow planning, effective close management, and optimization of checklists and documentation tools.
  • Ensure property compliance with USALI, GAAP, and Company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure satisfaction of legal requirements and contractual obligations utilizing internal controls, auditing, and security procedures.
  • Ensure hotels' compliance on all regulatory licenses and permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and the proper execution of all operational taxes.
  • Primary involvement in tax audits and internal/external audits and assist in coordinating responses to governmental agencies.
  • Collaborate with other Regional Directors of Finance, Property Controllers/Directors of Finance, and the Vice President - Accounting to ensure effective coordination and discussion of best practices.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all finance division related matters, ensuring implementation and adherence to SOPs, training manuals, systems, and service standards and guidelines.
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to develop their full potential, establish clear expectations, provide necessary tools and training, and address performance needs.
  • Work with transition and ownership teams for on-boarding and off-boarding of properties ensuring smooth, thorough, and accurate hotel transition activities.
  • Actively assist in recruiting, reviewing, and recommending prospective team members like Directors of Finance, Assistant Directors of Finance, Accounting Managers, and other finance team members.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
