The Regional Director is a key member of CIBC GAM's Global Distribution Team and an integral part of the Asset Specialist Group Leadership Team, reporting to the MD & Head, Banking Center Distribution. In this role, the Regional Director leads a team of Asset Specialists within a dedicated region, while consulting and supporting regional and market leadership teams across Personal Banking (PB), Imperial Service (IS), Financial Planning & Advice (FP&A), and Private Banking. The role is responsible for coordinating and delivering community-level support to advisors and leaders in the areas of Financial Planning & Advice, Solution Fulfillment, and market intelligence. This is a fast-paced, dynamic, client-focused role that plays a critical part in advancing GAM's global distribution growth strategy. The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $111,060 to $161,060. The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles. In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Expertise in financial planning and wealth management.
  • Strong background and/or accreditation in Financial Planning (CFP), Wealth Management (CIM/CFA), and Retail Banking.
  • Strategic thinking ability.
  • Ability in strategic planning and the coordination of multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Adept at analyzing complex information.
  • Strong capacity to interpret complex information, identify patterns and trends, and independently develop actionable recommendations in response to urgent business priorities.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and influencing skills.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare and deliver compelling material to executive audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Asset Specialists to foster a client-driven culture and deliver superior business results.
  • Establish and promote a culture of teamwork, ensuring all Asset Specialists contribute meaningfully to their assigned Market Team's success.
  • Set clear context when assigning work, ensuring individual roles align with Market Team priorities and CIBC's broader organizational goals.
  • Build team and individual capabilities through targeted development opportunities, including job shadowing, special projects, and formal training.
  • Manage performance through fair, accurate, and timely formal and informal feedback; identify and remove obstacles to performance; and clearly communicate how individual expectations align with business priorities.

  • Drive sales effectiveness, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment across the business.
  • Accountable for balanced performance across PBB, the Asset Specialist Group, and GAM Global Distribution Team (GDT) KPIs through strategic management and ongoing analysis of trends and the competitive landscape.
  • Track and manage business performance and trends to support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts and results.
  • Lead strategic Market Team mapping to ensure effective coverage, segmentation, and maximum market impact.
  • Prepare sales plans and actively monitor performance against plan.
  • Ensure robust tracking mechanisms are in place to provide accurate reporting on sales targets, market share, profitability, and AUM targets.
  • Ensure adherence to operational procedures across the sales function and broader organization.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of policies that directly affect client offer quality, business development, distribution, revenue contribution, and risk management.
  • Provide direction on the development and implementation of effective communication and change management processes, ensuring associated risks are mitigated to protect CIBC's legal and reputational standing.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and proactively identify opportunities to enhance market and service approaches across the business.
  • Identify and escalate organizational risks and opportunities to inform policy and strategy formulation.
  • Collaborate with teams across GAM and CIBC to ensure alignment with overall CIBC strategic priorities.
