About The Position

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for the position of Regional Coordinator within the Division of Health Protection, Infectious Disease-HIV Section. This is a FEDERAL GRANT FUNDED position and subject to available grant funds. The Regional Coordinator provides technical assistance and program monitoring within a health care specialty, plans, directs, and implements a specialty program, and evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines. The role serves as a team leader and may supervise lower-level staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Prgm Consultant 1 (GSP090) or, Any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work or related field, with experience in Public Health, Program Coordination, HIV Prevention, and working with priority populations heavily impacted by HIV.
  • Master’s degree, extensive experience in HIV-focused programs, knowledge of data analysis and grant management, and working with priority populations heavily impacted by HIV.
  • Experience writing grant proposals.
  • Experience in developing program budgets and tracking program expenditures.
  • Considerable knowledge of HIV prevention programs, project monitoring, and program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience developing and implementing or managing public health programs.
  • Experience coordinating health services or public health programs with various agencies and organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides program consultation, training, and/or coordination of training needs for regional community based organizations and health departments with the objective of improving capacity to provide effective and efficient HIV/AIDS related services.
  • Identifies gaps in services in an effort to provide technical assistance.
  • Works with health departments and community based organizations to identify outside partners that can provide prevention interventions, counseling, testing, and linkage, and assist with community mobilization initiatives.
  • Works closely with health departments and community based organizations to identify and create achievable program goals and objectives.
  • Conducts site visits and provides feedback and technical assistance as needed to ensure that negotiated programmatic deliverables are being met.
  • Acts as the liaison between the HIV Prevention Program and community based organizations and health departments to ensure that grantees understand expectations, new initiatives, and other all HIV Prevention policies and procedures as they relate to contract management, and HIV counseling and testing, etc.
  • Reviews grantees monthly summary reports and submits invoices for payment.
