About The Position

BBYO is the leading pluralistic, Jewish teen movement with over 90 years of experience providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment. We offer year-round activities and inspiring travel experiences for teens to explore leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education, and Jewish values. Regional conventions are weekend events throughout the year where BBYO teens gather for fun and meaningful programming, activities, Shabbat moments, and social time. These conventions are planned and led by teens and are highly anticipated by members as opportunities for friendship formation.

Requirements

  • Carry state license in home state.
  • Master's level degree in social work, counseling, or similar (LSW, LCSW, LISW, LPC, Ph.D, Psy D., LMFT).
  • Must complete all necessary BBYO trainings prior to Convention.
  • Must stay onsite with teens for the duration of the convention.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the emotional well-being of all participants and staff.
  • Identify and meet participant needs by reviewing participant profiles and assisting staff in planning for individual needs.
  • Observe all participants and follow up on any potential issues.
  • Assist with adjustment issues and separation anxiety.
  • Provide support to staff dealing with participant behavior such as aggression, homesickness, teasing, or bullying.
  • Be alert to issues arising from pre-existing family situations such as recent death, divorce, or serious illness.
  • Consult with staff regarding children with diagnosed disorders.
  • Work closely with the nurse (if hired) to monitor the overlap of physical and emotional well-being.
  • Be available to all staff regarding any issue surrounding a participant.
  • Meet with individual teens or groups when necessary.
  • Work with appropriate staff to develop strategies for success for teens in need.
  • Contact parents in partnership with full-time staff to discuss participants when necessary.
  • Be available to respond to crisis situations.
  • Be available and present to teens and staff throughout the day.
  • Inform the Senior Director of Wellness and Inclusion regarding matters of concern about teen behavior.
