About The Position

Ryder is seeking a Regional Class A CDL Truck Driver for an immediate opening in Worcester, MA. The company offers to buy your truck if you're an Owner Operator looking to switch to a Company Driver role. Drivers average $1900+ per week, with the top 10% earning over $100k annually. Drivers are paid weekly, with an hourly base pay of $26.00, plus an additional $1 for every 3 certifications/endorsements, and overtime paid after 40 hours. The position typically involves 40+ hours per week, with a $50.00 per night per diem for overnights in Ryder-booked hotels or sleepers, and paid travel. A $1000 tenure bonus is paid annually. Paid training is provided. The schedule is Monday - Friday, requiring flexibility. Drivers will deliver solo to the Northeast and New England Regions, operating Day Cab and Sleeper tractors, with a possibility of a 26' Straight Truck. Trailer types include 48' - 53' Flatbed, Dry Van, Reefer, Conestoga, Curtainside, and Container. The freight is a mix of touch/no touch and varies by product. Load securement, including strapping, tarping, and chaining, is required. The starting salary for this position is $65,000, with eligibility for a Shift Differential.

Requirements

  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
  • Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
  • Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures
  • 1 year Flatbed Experience Required
  • Hazmat, Tanker & Doubles/Triples Endorsements required
  • Load Securement – Strapping, Tarping and Chaining experience Required

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
  • Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs
  • Loading/Unloading freight or assisting in the loading/unloading of freight if required by customer
  • Performs other duties as assigned
