About The Position

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join her management team as the Regional Chief of the Central Massachusetts Regional Office (Central MA) located in Worcester, Massachusetts. Employees of the Central MA Office handle legal matters from across the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) in each of the Office’s core areas of responsibility, including, among many others: consumer protection, worker protection, civil rights, fair competition, nonprofit oversight, and representation of the Commonwealth and state officials in challenges to their actions. The Central MA Office also provides on-site assistance to residents with labor, civil rights, and consumer issues. The Office serves as a regional hub for the implementation of AGO-wide priorities that involve community outreach, education, and policy initiatives.

Requirements

  • Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar or eligible for admission by motion.
  • Experienced attorney with substantial litigation experience in state courts.
  • Prior management experience with the ability and desire to supervise a diverse professional and support staff.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and management skills as well as a proven record of sound judgment and decision making.
  • Significant knowledge of and familiarity with the region served by the CMAS Office.
  • Ability to professionally represent the Attorney General in presentations and meetings involving consumer groups, local officials, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations.
  • Ability to successfully work with the public, the private bar, courts, and other legal and government institutions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the public interest.
  • Demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve and an interest in supporting a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the Office, including Assistant Attorneys General and support staff, while also handling your own matters.
  • Leading the Office while also holding the position of Assistant Attorney General in one of the five Bureaus: Public Protection & Advocacy, Health Care & Fair Competition, Energy & Environment, Criminal, and Government.
  • Coordinating staff supervision with division managers in Boston, as Central MA staff also report directly to division managers in Boston.
  • Representing the Office of the Attorney General in consumer, professional, and community education; training and outreach programs and events.
  • Serving as the Office’s liaison with local public officials and community organizations.
  • Maintaining consistent reporting on CMAS Office activities to the Attorney General and her executive staff.
