About The Position

Plastic Express is seeking a Regional Bulk Driver Trainer for the East Region. This role is responsible for the development and oversight of the company's Operational Training Program, focusing on Safety & Quality Policies/Procedures for Trucking & Warehousing operations. The trainer will ensure effective implementation of these policies, provide guidance to employees and management, and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies like FMCSA, DOT, and OSHA. The goal is to continuously improve driver and company employee safety & quality performance. This position will also assist in overseeing the safety & quality team, auditing sites, and collaborating on the development and implementation of processes, policies, and training strategies.

Requirements

  • Three years of training experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Class A CDL is required.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a Driver's Med Card.
  • Some previous general management experience, ideally within the trucking industry.
  • Computer proficiency in a Windows environment with emphasis on MS Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Must be multi-task oriented with a strong ability to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Must be able to travel, work long hours, to include weekends & holidays, when necessary.
  • Must have 5 years of on the road CMV / Class A, verifiable driving experience.
  • Valid unrestricted Class A state-issued driver’s license, and clean DMV record.
  • Fork Lift Certification.
  • Rail Training Certification.
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, extensive knowledge of motor truck and trailer mechanical functions, maintenance requirements, failure analysis, DOT FMCSA and FMVSS regulations.
  • Familiarity with interstate licensing including IRP, IFTA, and NMTFA.
  • Intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic level of skill in Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Some advanced education or working towards a degree.
  • Smith Driving System certification.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with all new driver hires in your region, providing direct onboard training and indirect management/review of terminal-level training.
  • Provide feedback and advice to Terminal Manager, Bulk Trucking Safety Manager, Bulk Trucking AVP, and VP.
  • Conduct Smith System Driver Training with fleet drivers, retraining every two years.
  • Ensure all jobs and tasks are completed in accordance with the company’s Prime Rules of Safety and with respect to company-wide standardization and quality control processes and procedures at every terminal.
  • Develop and deliver site-specific training as necessary.
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Communicate and assist regularly with counterparts in other regions to ensure company-wide standardization and compliance with required training.
  • Assist Terminal Managers & AVPs as necessary.
  • Act as the Terminal Manager supernumerary when required.
  • Remain available to self-dispatch to cover loads in any of the trucking divisions.
  • Document and upload training documents in MyPE, EHS systems, and any other required databases/systems.
  • Help management identify personnel worthy of promotion and advancement.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and trainer for driver tools including PX Drive, Live Load Review, Geo Tab HOS & Exemption Reports, EHS, and Netradyne (in-cab & Training View).
  • Enthusiastically support all facets of Operation Clean Sweep, focusing on preventing environmental loss of materials and ensuring swift cleanup of spills.
