About The Position

We are looking for a Regional Automation Engineer to focus on optimizing and advancing process technologies within production facilities. This role involves leading engineering teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure processes comply with industry standards and are continuously improved to meet operational goals. This position will provide ongoing support for multiple seed production facilities in the region, maintaining and improving existing control systems to ensure equipment reliability, on-stream time, seed quality, and safety. The role includes conceiving, designing, installing, starting up, and commissioning medium-scale automation/control improvement projects, leading PLC, HMI programming, and IT management efforts, becoming an expert in site production and control system needs, monitoring and resolving control system issues, collaborating with other automation engineers for network alignment and standardization, and mentoring automation technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automation Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable Technology with 3 years of experience, or 8 years of practical experience such as experience derived from the Automation Technician role at Bayer production plants.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaborative team player capable of working well with people across all hierarchies internally and externally.
  • Good organizational and presentation skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills such as communication, listening, verbal, and assertiveness.
  • Results-driven with the ability to manage ambiguity.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on optimizing and advancing process technologies within production facilities.
  • Lead engineering teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

  • Provide ongoing support for multiple seed production facilities in the region.
  • Maintain and improve existing control systems, ensuring equipment reliability, on-stream time, seed quality, and safety of seed manufacturing operations.
  • Conceive, design, install, start up, and commission medium scale automation/control improvement projects.
  • Lead and drive PLC, HMI programming, and IT management efforts at sites.
  • Become an expert in site production and control system needs and provide technical support.
  • Monitor, trend, identify, and develop solutions to control system issues.
  • Collaborate with other automation engineers to ensure strong network alignment and standardized systems.
  • Mentor automation technicians.
