About The Position

The University of Arkansas is seeking a Regional Admissions Counselor to be based in the Chicago, Illinois metro area. This role is responsible for educating prospective students and families about the University of Arkansas and its programs. The position requires extensive year-round travel to high schools and colleges throughout the assigned territory, which includes Wisconsin. Travel to the Fayetteville, AR campus will also be necessary for special events and training. The counselor will develop and manage a pool of prospective students, plan and implement recruitment strategies using a CRM, and build strategic partnerships with educational constituents, alumni, and parents. This role involves giving presentations to large groups and requires frequent travel by vehicle and/or air. The employee is expected to reside in the Chicago metro area as a Remote Worker.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least one year of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting.
  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty.
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • At least two years of experience in enrollment services, academic advising, or recruiting.
  • At least one year of experience as an admissions counselor, student ambassador, or orientation leader.
  • Knowledge of higher education admissions office procedures and policies.
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate attention to detail, meet deadlines, and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form, including the ability to present to a large audience.

Responsibilities

  • Educate prospective students and families about the University of Arkansas and its programs.
  • Reside in the Chicago, Illinois metro area.
  • Conduct extensive year-round travel to high schools and colleges throughout the assigned territory (including Wisconsin).
  • Travel to the Fayetteville, AR campus when needed for special events, training, etc.
  • Develop and manage a pool of prospective students in the assigned territory.
  • Plan and implement effective recruitment strategies utilizing CRM to set goals and monitor progress.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with education constituents, including counselors, AP teachers, University of Arkansas alumni, parents, and regional recruitment networks.
  • Assume other related areas of responsibility as assigned or required by senior university administration.
  • Assist regional team during high volume periods.
  • Give presentations and interact with large groups of prospective students.
  • Lift 40 lbs.
