About The Position

The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Regional Administrator to oversee Child Welfare operations in a tri-region territory including Alexandria, Monroe, and Shreveport. The selected candidate will work as part of the state's Child Welfare leadership team to ensure an integrated approach to child welfare services, fulfilling the department's mission, goals, and objectives. This role involves providing direction and oversight of workforce development and resource allocation. The domicile can be dependent upon the selected candidate but must reside within the tri-region area.

Requirements

  • Ten years of social services experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus seven years of social services experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus seven years of social services experience; OR An advanced degree in a social sciences field, business, public, or health administration, or a Juris Doctorate plus six years of social services experience.
  • Four years of the required experience must have been at the supervisory level or above in Child Support Enforcement, Child Welfare, or Economic Stability programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes strategies to enhance and improve overall performance for Alexandria, Monroe and Shreveport regions.
  • Provides supervision and direction over a staff of area directors and administrative program specialists.
  • Establishes appropriate program and service goals and objectives.
  • Maintains a stable, competent and diverse workforce and ensures communication throughout the three regions.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with departmental staff, advisory boards, community providers, judges and other agencies.
  • Oversees the management of the child welfare budget.
  • Stays abreast of proposals and changes to laws, rules, policies and procedures related to program areas.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings.
  • Oversees matters for the regions such as hiring, retention, compensation, performance evaluation and discipline.
