Requirements

  • Active Licensure as a Registered Nurse in for the state of the work location (RN);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Must have an ability to provide excellent and compassionate medical service;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Must be reliable with time sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Work well under pressure and adaptable to change;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three (3) years of experience working with families and children as a Nurse or equivalent role, strongly preferred;
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred;

Responsibilities

  • Assess and document the physical, medical, and emotional needs of refugees, immigrants, and asylees.
  • Ensure the safety of all patients in care;
  • Coordinate the patient’s medical care through the period of services, while also facilitating health assessments or specialized medical treatment;
  • Provide medical resources, information, and consultation to parents, foster parents, case managers, therapist, and youth specialists;
  • Initiate and assist with coordinating medical referrals to community medical providers;
  • Partner with case managers in maintaining medical and dental records to include but not limited to immunization records, health appraisal forms, medical histories on child and biological parents, and monitoring medical passports to ensure completion through consultation with staff, facilitating physical exams;
  • Serve as a liaison for Bethany within the medical community;
  • Serve as a consultant and resource related to OSHA standards, bloodborne pathogens and tuberculosis;
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department;
  • May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
