About The Position

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repairs on transport refrigeration systems. This includes routine servicing, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring that all work meets safety and operational standards. The role involves physical labor and requires working in an outdoor environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and stoop frequently.
  • Work involves lifting and carrying heavy tools and mechanical parts.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Assistance is available for lifting heavier loads.
  • Full-time schedule with on-call availability as designated.
  • May include weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Must have knowledge of hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with refrigeration systems and electrical components required.
  • 608 certificate or equivalent to evacuate and add refrigerant
  • 1-2 years of basic mechanical experience or completion of Technician Training or Heavy Duty Diesel program.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair refrigeration and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of electrical components and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and service documentation.
  • Outdoor work environment with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear required protective equipment.
  • Must have sufficient vision to observe areas needing attention.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal instructions and environmental sounds.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance services, including oil and filter changes, belt adjustments, and fluid level checks.
  • Diagnose and repair refrigeration systems, including replacing engines and other mechanical components when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Maintain and repair truck and trailer refrigeration units to ensure optimal performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies while performing all tasks.
  • Document all maintenance and repairs performed, ensuring accurate service records.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to maintain a safe and productive work environment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workspace and follow all safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
