This position applies principles in solving simple to complex problems affecting certain properties of a system, such as the application of the gas law to refrigeration. It involves applying one or more principles of mechanics, electricity, thermodynamics, or fluid dynamics, interacting in complex systems. The role requires forming and testing numerous hypotheses to ensure correct problem diagnosis (troubleshooting) in complex systems where a variety of mechanical, electrical, thermal, or flow faults are potential sources of difficult problems. The technician will correctly identify and apply involved principles of pressure/temperature relationships, refrigeration system piping, and relays, contractors, and starters in problem-solving. This role is also capable of training others and requires passing a HazMat physical and taking HazMat training. The technician must be capable of pumping down parts or whole refrigeration systems.
