Under moderate supervision, a Refrigeration Technician 3 is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems, specifically working with ammonia refrigeration. This role requires performing preventative maintenance, responding to system interruptions, and being on call for emergency repairs. The technician will also work with and communicate with a diverse variety of individuals and assist with upkeep of critical documents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have at least 7 years + experience.
  • Must have Technician II and PSM/RMP certification.
  • Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) is required.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, and moving around refrigeration systems.
  • Required to be able to pass and maintain annual medical and pulmonary fit tests for respirator use.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree is preferred.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) experience helpful.
  • English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
  • Use of technology such as computers, mobile devices, etc. preferred.
  • Refrigerated food manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities

  • Supports both the PSM and Refrigeration team to maintain all PSM, Refrigeration and Safety documentation retention (SOP’s, LOTO’s, and P&ID’s).
  • Maintains PMs of refrigeration system.
  • Confers with operators and observes, tests, and evaluates operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose root cause of malfunction.
  • Disassembles machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Performs daily chemical testing and logging all test results, making adjustments required to maintain refrigeration & utility system within established limits.
  • Periodic use and maintenance of fitted full face respirator.
  • Assists with inventory control.
