About The Position

This role is responsible for performing daily mechanical checks on various equipment including Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins. The technician will maintain and repair all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, electrical, and mechanical systems. This includes performing preventative maintenance, leak checks, inspections, and maintaining required documentation. The technician will also monitor work done by outside contractors, troubleshoot and repair refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, and manage communications for service calls. Additionally, the role involves operating EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tuning operating parameters, and adjusting set points and schedules. Administrative tasks include ordering materials, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work and refrigerant leak reports. The technician must perform all duties in a timely, efficient, and professional manner, and maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of Refrigeration/Mechanical school or completion of a minimum of three years apprenticeship.
  • Minimum of three years in Grocery Refrigeration and HVAC related work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
  • Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
  • Able to maintain proper neat uniform appearance of Company provided work shirt and employee provided clean blue jeans without holes or tears.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required including arc flash and safety glasses.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
  • General record keeping skills.
  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Make daily mechanical check on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases and walk-ins.
  • Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and make necessary repairs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections and records required information and maintains required documentation.
  • Monitors preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notifies the Area Refrigeration Manager of issues or problems.
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions and recommending further action.
  • Manage communications for service calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
  • Operates EMS building controls and automation systems. Fine tune operating parameters. Adjust set points and schedules. Fully understand and modify building control sequences and operates the EMS / BMS systems.
  • Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as ordering material and writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports.
  • Perform all duties in a timely, efficient, & professional manner.
  • Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area in mechanical room, roof, service vehicle, etc.
