About The Position

This position is responsible for monitoring building equipment for safety purposes and repair. The role involves troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions, and making recommendations for further action. The technician will also perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, and inspections, maintaining required documentation. They will monitor work done by outside contractors and manage communications for service calls in a timely manner. Maintaining current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes is also a key responsibility. The role involves operating EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tuning operating parameters, and adjusting set points and schedules. The technician will also perform administrative tasks such as ordering materials, writing purchase orders, and data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years recent experience performing refrigeration service, or maintenance work in building related trades.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
  • Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess an EPA Section608 Universal Certification.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
  • General record keeping skills.
  • Customer service orientation and sensitivity to diverse needs of coworkers, employees, and other persons contacted in the daily course of work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform manual labor.
  • Stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, and reaching is required in completion of job duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduation from building-related vocational-technical programs are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring building equipment for safety purposes and repair.
  • Troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems.
  • Performing repairs, documenting solutions, and making recommendations for further action.
  • Making daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins.
  • Maintaining all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems and making necessary repairs.
  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, and inspections.
  • Recording required information and maintaining jurisdictionally applicable records, EPA forms, and required documentation.
  • Monitoring preventive maintenance work done by outside contractors and notifying Area Refrigeration Manager of issues or problems.
  • Maintaining a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Managing communications for service calls in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
  • Operating EMS building controls and automation systems, fine-tuning operating parameters, and adjusting set points and schedules.
  • Fully understanding and modifying building control sequences and operating the EMS / BMS systems.
  • Ordering material and writing purchase orders.
  • Data entry for work reports and refrigerant leak reports via company supplied electronics.
  • Performing all duties in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
  • Maintaining a neat, clean, and safe work area in mechanical room, roof, service vehicle, etc.
