Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, equivalent work experience and trade or technical school classes.
  • Must have passed Tech Skills level 2 with an 80% or better.
  • Valid EPA certificate.
  • 0-2 year's experience in commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical required.
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration, HVAC, ice machines, gas furnaces, and electrical.
  • Ability to read and interpret an electrical schematic diagram.
  • Ability to read and interpret an electrical wiring diagram.
  • Ability to demonstrate the proper use of a multimeter.
  • Ability to demonstrate pipe measuring techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate tube cutter operation.
  • Ability to explain proper PPE and safety equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate tube bending operation.
  • Ability to demonstrate pipe insulation.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to make a flared joint.
  • Ability to demonstrate proper PPE and safety equipment.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to properly set up, light, and shut off an oxyacetylene torch.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to braze and solder a joint.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to determine superheat and how to set expansion valve superheat.
  • Ability to properly hook up a gauge set to evacuate, charge, pump down and purge a system.
  • Ability to demonstrate how to properly set up a gauge set and recovery unit to recover refrigerant.
  • Understanding of work order, logbook, timecard, and refrigerant form.
  • Ability to demonstrate the use of refrigerant leak detector.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. with no assistance and be able to sit and/or stand for several hours at a time.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.
  • Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to report to work in a timely manner as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Repair and overhaul equipment such as compressors, water pumps, air handlers, electrical and mechanical control devices and other similar machinery.
  • Test malfunctioning systems and components using electrical and/or mechanical skills.
  • Maintain legible corporate and personal records of work history.
  • Provide general repair work on refrigeration, heating and ventilation equipment such as air conditioning units, evaporative condensers, ice machine equipment, water pumps, gas furnaces, compressors and electric motors.
  • Provide preventative maintenance activities; diagnose equipment malfunctions and operating efficiency of mechanical equipment.
  • Perform work on minor construction and remodeling projects including startups of new installations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
