About The Position

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will operate, maintain, and repair industrial refrigeration, boiler, and related utility systems within a manufacturing plant environment. You will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of ammonia refrigeration systems and associated equipment, while supporting continuous improvement and mentoring team members. This is a second shift role, working from 1:30pm to 9:30pm.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year technical degree in industrial refrigeration maintenance with a minimum of three years of experience as a Refrigeration Mechanic
  • Current RETA certification or equivalent Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator certification with a minimum of six years of ammonia refrigeration experience
  • In-depth knowledge of ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, boilers, compressors, motors, pumps, and mechanical components
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair of industrial power and control systems
  • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance based on technical manuals and work order requirements
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems for work order management and recordkeeping
  • Skill in precision welding using wire-feed and heliarc methods on stainless steel in multiple positions
  • Understanding of electro-mechanical systems and interfaces within refrigeration operations
  • Strong initiative and decision-making skills with accountability for outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Responsibilities

  • Perform operation, installation, overhaul, and preventive maintenance on refrigeration, boiler, and related plant systems without direct supervision
  • Analyze equipment performance, identify defects, and initiate corrective actions to prevent major breakdowns
  • Maintain, install, and repair boilers, pressure systems, and all supporting equipment
  • Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records using a computerized maintenance management system
  • Train and mentor refrigeration mechanics on proper care, maintenance, and operation of plant systems
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, including alternating current and direct current power and control systems
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication, precision welding on stainless steel, and plasma cutting as required
  • Safely operate power tools and shop equipment, including drill presses, grinders, milling machines, and lathes
  • Ensure compliance with all plant safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain all assigned logs and documentation
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to support production needs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel
