About The Position

This role inspects, diagnoses, and performs preventative maintenance on all semi-trailers and tractors, specifically focusing on repairs to reefer units.

Requirements

  • High school plus trade school or equivalent experience.
  • Courses or technical certification in refrigeration necessary.
  • Valid CDL license required.
  • Over one year up to three years of similar or related work experience.
  • Must be able to solve practical problems; several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be able to do Arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must be able to interpret written work instructions; understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions; write identifying information; request supplies orally or in writing.
  • Must be physically able to perform very heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual requirements include vision from 20 inches or less to 20 feet or more with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Must have own hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Type 2 air conditioning certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Services reefer units, replaces worn or broken parts.
  • Repair refrigeration and electrical systems on reefers.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on trailers.
  • Conducts inspections on trailers to meet federal guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate record of work performed and parts used.
  • Performs tire work on equipment.
  • Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
  • Assists in recovery of accidents.
  • Performs minor repairs to shop building and equipment.
  • Responds to service calls on the road to repair breakdowns.
  • Performs repairs to tractors when necessary.
  • Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
