About The Position

At Wegmans, the Maintenance Mechanic team ensures stores, facilities, and equipment are professionally maintained to support fresh products and a safe, productive work environment. The team solves complex problems, learns and develops new skills, and has opportunities for advancement. In this role, you will work with team members to repair and perform preventative maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment while following proper safety protocols.

Requirements

At least 5 years of related work experience.
Technical training through an apprenticeship, RSES, trade school, or equivalent work experience.
EPA Universal Certification.
Proficiency using a laptop computer and the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and operate building management systems, onboard control systems, and manufacturers' PLC-based control systems.
Sound mechanical ability and knowledge of welding and plumbing.
Must be 18 years or older.

Nice To Haves

Supermarket- or restaurant-related equipment experience, including knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and operating standards.
Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Perform basic repairs and preventive maintenance on refrigeration and HVAC equipment.
Identify and diagnose issues with refrigeration and HVAC control systems; repair self-contained cases and rooftop HVAC units of all types; and demonstrate knowledge of secondary glycol racked systems and conventional DX racked systems.
Work effectively with a team and assist other personnel as needed to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and customers; determine repair best practices and assess downtime with store personnel.
Create and maintain preventative maintenance records for serviced equipment and maintain truck inventory.
Deliver service to internal and external customers while maintaining Wegmans' quality, food safety, and human safety standards.
