About The Position

Bongards’ Creameries is seeking a Day Shift Refrigeration Mechanic based out of our Humboldt facility. The refrigeration mechanic will perform work not limited to: pipefitting, insulation, repairing / replacing malfunctioning parts, troubleshooting the ammonia system, all associated equipment as well as troubleshooting, repairing cheese-making machinery and related systems.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Excellent Math and Reading skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
• Must adhere to and follow all Safety, OSHA, GMP, other quality guidelines and regulations
• Must report all food safety problems to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
• Must be able to wear a respirator
• Ability to spend long periods of time standing

Nice To Haves

• RETA Certification preferred
• Previous experience with Ammonia systems is preferred
• Previous maintenance experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test equipment to diagnose problem(s)
• Perform preventative maintenance on all assigned facility related equipment according to schedule
• Disassemble defective equipment to find root cause
• Studies blueprints to determine configuration of cooling equipment
• Install new or refurbished part(s) and coordinate subcontractor activities
• Repair or replace components for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, refrigeration equipment
• Record repairs done and inventory parts used
• Inspects and test system to verify system compliance with plans and specifications
• Must report all Food Safety and quality concerns to immediate supervisor or designated replacement
• Must be comfortable to work indoor/outdoor, cold/warm environments, crawl spaces and elevated areas
• Other duties as assigned
