About The Position

This position ensures the safe and efficient operation of the manufacturing plant's refrigeration system, Boiler System, Air Compressors, and Hot Water System. The role involves performing daily preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of the plant's refrigeration, boiler, air compressor, and hot water equipment and its components. The position requires adherence to all safety precautions and health hazards related to ammonia, as well as compliance with state, federal, and local agencies like OSHA and the EPA. The team member will also participate as an Emergency Response Team Member and use effective communication skills.

Requirements

  • PSM experience.
  • Experience working with Anhydrous Ammonia systems, including mechanical & electrical repairs.
  • Able to obtain SCBA certification and use fully encapsulated chemical suit in emergency.
  • Able to travel and attend training 1-2 trips per year.
  • Able to pass IIAR Training modules for ammonia refrigeration.
  • Familiar with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be willing and able to lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
  • The Team Member will move from one area of production to another.
  • The Team Member will stand, stoop, climb ladders, change work levels, twist, squat, climb stairs, reach, push, pull, and move about the facility.
  • The Team Member will work in temperatures between 30-100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Current Maintenance Team Members or Production Team Member must have completed 90-day probationary period and have less than four (4) attendance points.
  • No written warnings for job performance in the previous six (6) months.
  • Or Current production Team Members who have completed 30 days of employment but less than 90-day probation.
  • Must have less than two (2) attendance points and no written warnings for job performance.
  • All internal candidates must document their mechanical or HVAC experience within their application.

Responsibilities

  • Perform required daily preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repairs of the plant refrigeration, boiler, air compressor, and hot water equipment along with its components.
  • Assure that all safety precautions and health hazards with ammonia are followed per Tyson requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local agencies, including but not limited to OSHA and the EPA.
  • Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HOWDEN, SULLAIR, & MYCOM Ammonia Compressors, condensers, valve stations, heat exchangers, pump packages, liquid ammonia pumps, air units, refrigeration PLC and all control components, Boilers, Air Compressors, and Hot Water System.
  • Maintain these components in the best operating condition to provide adequate temperatures required by Food Industry Standards.
  • Participate as an Emergency Response Team Member.
  • Understand and follow specific verbal and written instructions and procedures.
  • Use effective communications skills, including specification/technical writing skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
