About The Position

This role will be responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, repair, testing and calibration of refrigeration equipment with minimum supervision. This job requires extensive travel to customers’ locations. Experience in electrical, refrigeration, compressors and systems; as well as the ability to read and interpret MEP blueprints, electrical and refrigeration schematics, and experience with installation and balancing of desiccant dehumidifiers (is a plus) and interpersonal skills, the ability to multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Electrical, mechanical, or mechanic disciplines or equivalent work experience.
  • Refrigeration (EPA Universal Card)
  • Basic understanding of PLC Controls including ladder logic.
  • Familiarity and use of test equipment.
  • Familiarity and use of hand tools.
  • Independent troubleshooting of complex mechanical and refrigeration systems
  • Plumbing, braising and soldering skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes.
  • Flexible, courteous, friendly and positive approach.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and compliance schematics.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
  • Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment.
  • Computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office)
  • Degree or Certificate from approved two-year college or technical school in related field, five years related experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Previous experience as a refrigeration technician.
  • Refrigeration certification.
  • EPA 608 and OSHA 10.
  • Satisfactory completion of additional background screening.
  • Able to independently coordinate/perform the installation of complex, structural capital equipment.
  • Able to assemble complex, often large, mechanical assemblies.
  • Capability to access confined spaces, such as attics, crawl spaces, and mechanical rooms.
  • Fine motor skills for handling tools and equipment.
  • Hand-eye coordination for tasks such as operating controls and using diagnostic equipment.
  • Able to perform manufacturing processes such as brazing, welding, etc.
  • Independently able to decipher electrical, mechanical, and process flow schematics.
  • Able to read instrumentation and gauges for measurement purposes.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Endurance to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.
  • Strong balance and coordination are crucial to prevent falls.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mid-level to advanced customer support activities including equipment installation, equipment and/or product troubleshooting and repair, equipment maintenance, and assist with equipment testing, start-up, and validation activities as needed.
  • Responsible for supervising and/or executing field installation and testing of equipment.
  • Responsible for customer technical support (product/equipment troubleshooting) including support via phone, online, or in the field.
  • Act as single point of contact for customers, soliciting internal technical support as needed, managing sub-contractors as needed.
  • Maintain broad equipment, process, and manufacturing knowledge critical to supporting equipment.
  • Works independently with minimal technical supervision.
  • Processing and completing work orders.
  • Contacting the client to ascertain their equipment needs.
  • Ordering equipment supplies, repair modules, and sundries for the order.
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints and compliance schematics.
  • Installing climate control systems, refrigeration units, and beverage equipment.
  • Observing and testing newly installed systems.
  • Troubleshooting refrigeration equipment failures.
  • Replacing worn seals, outer shells, and worn-out motors.
  • Informing clients of repair costs and alternate cooling options.
  • Responsible for the timely preparation and submission of budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking documentation.
  • This includes generating invoices, field reports, and project closeout documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
