About The Position

The AMS Group, part of Dover Food Retail (DFR), is seeking a Refrigeration Construction Foreman to oversee field operations and ensure high-quality workmanship in supermarket refrigeration installations for new store constructions and remodel projects. This role involves directing tradesmen, maintaining clear communication with clients and colleagues, developing work schedules, providing project updates, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. The Foreman will also interpret blueprints, conduct material takeoffs, procure supplies, oversee project construction (including piping cooler boxes, overhead lines, compressor rooms/houses, and refrigeration cases), and record daily progress reports. Additionally, the role includes training and mentoring junior team members.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • 5 years’ relevant experience of leading and directing commercial refrigeration installations on jobsites.
  • Experienced leader with a proven ability to manage crews, oversee operations, and ensure workplace efficiency.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, engaging effectively with contractors, inspectors, and laborers.
  • Skilled in construction practices, equipment maintenance, and subcontractor sourcing, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-specific systems, with a self-motivated, professional work ethic.
  • Willing to travel up to 75% as required to meet project demands.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field operations and provide direction to tradesman, ensuring high-quality workmanship in supermarket refrigeration installations.
  • Maintain clear, professional communication with clients, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Develop and adjust work schedules to accommodate shifting construction deadlines, delays, and weather challenges.
  • Provide project status updates to stakeholders, including project managers and construction leadership.
  • Ensure a highly efficient work environment while upholding strict quality and safety standards.
  • Interpret blueprints, conduct material takeoffs, and procure necessary supplies.
  • Oversee construction projects, including piping cooler boxes, overhead lines, compressor rooms/houses, and refrigeration cases, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Record and submit daily progress reports, documenting any discrepancies or deviations from the original plan.
  • Train and mentor lower-level construction team members across multiple trades to develop skills and expertise.
  • Conduct safety meetings and maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.
