About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Refrigeration / Boiler Room Operator to maintain and monitor refrigeration, boiler, HVAC, and related plant systems in a busy manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have prior boiler operator experience and strong troubleshooting skills. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred. This is a union position with competitive pay, an attendance incentive, and opportunities for overtime.

Requirements

  • Prior boiler operator experience required
  • Minimum of 2 years of refrigeration maintenance or related experience preferred/required
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of plant safety and GMP requirements
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and plans
  • Knowledge of planned maintenance practices
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Basic computer and spreadsheet skills
  • Ability to complete work and purchase requests
  • RETA Level 1 Industrial experience preferred
  • Must be able to work scheduled hours and required overtime

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred
  • RETA Level 1 Industrial experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain boiler, refrigeration, HVAC, and related plant systems
  • Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment involving ammonia and other refrigerants
  • Perform daily inspections and operational checks of refrigeration and plant equipment
  • Monitor ammonia refrigeration systems, coolers, HVAC systems, and related equipment
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on evaporators, condensers, and other refrigeration equipment
  • Monitor, clean, and repair plant systems including condensers and filtration systems
  • Identify equipment issues and perform repairs to minimize downtime
  • Change and clean filters as needed
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, records, checklists, and other required documentation
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, GMP, and plant safety requirements
  • Follow all Lockout/Tagout and other required safety procedures
  • Request parts and supplies as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas
  • Complete required paperwork and maintenance documentation
