About The Position

Responsible for the maintenance and repair of ladles and vessels, relining with multi-components the AOD vessels, bottom pour ladles, transfer ladles and the making of stopper rods. This role involves cleaning old linings out of ladles using a chipping gun and installing the appropriate lining, removing burned bricks from the AOD vessel and re-bricking the vessel, and positioning and moving ladles, vessels, and refractory materials with an overhead crane. The job expectations include ensuring the work area is clean and free of hazards, participating in safety, health, and environmental programs, updating refractory applications, ensuring ladles, ladle components, and vessels meet process and quality requirements, data collection and input, maintaining a good work ethic and attendance record, a positive attitude, and participating in lean initiatives (6S, Visual Management, Kaizen).

Requirements

  • Good reading, writing, mathematical, and verbal skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance and repair of ladles and vessels
  • Relining AOD vessels, bottom pour ladles, and transfer ladles with multi-components
  • Making of stopper rods
  • Cleaning old linings out of ladles with a chipping gun and installing appropriate lining
  • Removing burned bricks from the AOD vessel and re-bricking the vessel
  • Positioning and moving ladles, vessels, and refractory materials with an overhead crane
  • Following Ladle Refractory Flow Charts and MWI for all refractory work
  • Maintaining the condition of all ladles/vessels by chipping solidified slag or metal away from exterior and building components
  • Performing refractory work on both Ladles & Vessels which will require lifting loads up to 50 lbs
  • Pouring Castable for Well Blocks and maintaining inventory of Cured Well Blocks and Well Blocks that need to be cured
  • Informing Team Leader or supervisor of any unfavorable ladle, vessel or stopper rod conditions/shortages
  • Ensuring work area is clean and free of any hazards
  • Participating in all Safety, Health and Environmental programs
  • Updating Refractory Application
  • Ensuring all ladles, ladle components and Vessels meet process & quality requirements
  • Data collection and input
  • Performing other duties as directed by company
