Requirements

  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts which may include days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to work overtime, either planned or unplanned for emergency situations
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced multi-discipline environment, with strong work ethic, attention to detail, organizational and listening skills
  • Must be able to learn quickly, multitask and utilize time wisely
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in environments with extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust, fumes, loud noise, uneven surfaces, elevated areas, and confined spaces
  • Demonstrate dependability in attendance, work completions, and flexibility to meet business needs

Responsibilities

  • Support Melt Shop operations
  • Safely repair and rebuild ladles
  • Safely rebuild tundishes
  • Operate tundish dryer
  • Operate tundish rotator (knock out tundish skull)
  • Replace ladle block and porous plug blocks/plugs
  • Operate service crane safely
  • Operate ladle dig-out machine (knock out ladle brick and porous plugs)
  • Prepare and pour new bottoms for DC furnace
  • Assist maintenance personnel when requested or needed
  • Participate in CMC Safety Programs and proactively support the CMC Safety Culture
  • Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed to equipment without the assistance of maintenance personnel
  • Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
  • Ability to troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
  • Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe and timely manner
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
  • Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
