Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to effectively perform all the duties and responsibilities listed above.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining extreme accuracy.
  • Ability to work with demanding customers.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certification preferred.
  • COA or COT preferred.
  • Prior experience in an ophthalmic / surgical setting is preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Alcon EX500 certification training (within 6 months of hire)
  • Successful completion of the Zeiss VisuMax certification training (within 6 months of hire)
  • Successful completion of the Glaukos CXL device / procedure training (within 6 months of hire).
  • Successful completion of the RXSight LDD assistant training (within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Accurately, effectively and efficiently operating the current laser systems and programming the devices accurately with information provided by the physician and programming the patient treatment profile.
  • Maintains friendly, positive, and caring attitude with patients, physicians and staff members.
  • Maintains professionalism at work and when representing ECNC in the community.
  • Must be able to complete all required diagnostic testing per consult/pre-op protocol and ensure accurate patient workup
  • Accurately communicate with and schedule patients by phone and email.
  • Verifies completion of charts, forms, charge sheets prior to patient arrival.
  • Performs final check of completeness of all required documentation.
  • Ensures completion of required patient information, consent forms and assists patients with completion when required.
  • Enter patient information into surgical planning software and calculate treatment plans per surgeon preference.
  • Takes initiative in helping team members to provide the best care and outcome for the patient.
  • Communicates effectively, efficiently, and assertively w/ physicians and or staff regarding equipment status and Lasik OR.
  • Perform laser system start up and shut down.
  • Perform calibration of laser system.
  • Perform LDD calibration, setup and assist with procedures.
  • Perform CXL device setup and procedure.
  • Program laser systems per Dr. preference.
  • Perform routine service activities (Gas / Cylinder Changes, Laser or Device Calibration when needed).
  • Reports malfunctions to Laser Center Manager.
  • Requests office supplies, equipment and supplies for procedure and stocks Lasik OR.
  • Monitors and maintains environmental conditions in Lasik OR.
  • Maintains maintenance log on equipment.
  • Performs daily record keeping and filing.
  • Assists with clean-up of Lasik OR and instruments used.
  • Must develop detailed knowledge of all refractive procedures and services offered. (Maintains Ophthalmology education and keeps abreast of changes in refractive surgery).
