About The Position

The Referral Coordinator Imaging (Labor Pool) works under the supervision of the Registration Manager. This role is primarily responsible for scheduling patient appointments within Imaging Services, scheduling tests at appropriate facilities, and coordinating the completion of insurance-mandated referrals and authorizations in a timely manner prior to the date of service. The position also involves updating patient chart records with necessary referral information, flagging and faxing appropriate medical records, and contacting patients via telephone to communicate appointment preparation details.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED

• Associates Degree
• 3-4 years Business office experience
• 1 year Scheduling experience specific to Imaging Services/Registration
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) - National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM)

Responsibilities

• Increase appointment utilization by monitoring department schedules daily.
• Create additional appointment slots to increase department productivity and communicate appointment changes with patients.
• Provides scheduling services accurately and in the prescribed manner, coordinating multiple procedures with varying departments.
• Obtains and documents accurate patient demographics, appropriate test, and reason for the test, as well as any other pertinent information specific to the task being scheduled.
• Completes pre-registration and insurance verification accurately following all existing policies and procedures.
• Works daily queues to ensure patient automations are complete prior to check-in according to patient group/modality assigned.
• Contributes to overall department Time of Service collections.
• Processes physician and patient requests for tests and referrals in a timely manner.
• Responds appropriately and timely to patient calls.
