About The Position

The Youth Development Professional/Driver plans, implements, supervises members and evaluates activities provided within a specific program area, supporting the Red Shield Youth Center priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. May oversee special programs and/or events (i.e. Keystone, Youth of the Year and Awards Programs), and/or participate in the implementation of other unit activities as necessary. In absence of the Program Coordinator, they may provide supervision oversight to other Youth Development Professionals to ensure continuity of program services at unit/branch locations. Builds and maintains a professional relationship with all Club members and their families to help advance the mission of the Salvation Army.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D., and
  • previous work in related field with Children and Youth preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and a clear driving record
  • Ability to deal comfortably with stressful situations and follow emergency procedures.
  • Ability to multi-task, ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and stimulates program participation.
  • Assists with registration of new members and participates in their club orientation process.
  • Provides guidance and role modeling to members
  • Provides transportation for children to and from school and Community Center.
  • Provides transportation for children to and from afternoon activities including sporting events.
  • Provides transportation for children to and from day camp and during day camp trips.
  • Provides transportation for groups for summer camp.
  • Drives carefully and observes/complies with all traffic signs and road/weather conditions to ensure the safety of passengers.
  • Parks vehicle in a safe and clearly marked parking space.
  • Locks vehicle doors when vehicle is not in use.
  • Fuels vehicle in accordance with state gasoline regulations and The Salvation Army standards.
  • Logs all mileage on standard forms; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
  • Arrives at destination according to schedule or telephones ahead when severe delays occur.
