About The Position

Under direct supervision, assists in the Recycling and Solid Waste operations of the campus-wide; including Georgetown community at large, multi-material solid waste disposal, recycling, compost and paper shredding programs, including lifting and emptying heavy containers up to 50 pounds, processing materials and cleaning and disinfecting assigned vehicles, collection areas, and collection containers (including indoor trash and recycling). This work involves driving unit vehicles to designated disposal stations, operating bailers, forklifts, or pallet jacks, removing contaminants, lifting heavy items, and maintaining a clean work area, as assigned. Ensures that all disposal areas are clean, organized, fully functional with proper signage and operational. Additionally, this position is required to support the department with any snow removal operations as needed. This position reports directly to the Solid Waste Disposal and Recycling Manager, and works alongside Foreperson, Heavy Vehicle Operators, and other Laborers. Dedicate efforts to ensuring that all recycling and solid waste areas are not only clean but also fully functional and operational. Additionally, handle other assigned duties with diligence and commitment.

Requirements

High School diploma required
Department of Transportation Health Certificate (DOT) required.
Two years of experience performing general labor or manual work.
Must possess a medical card and/or certificate issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
A valid driver’s license from Maryland, District of Columbia or Virginia is required.

Experience directly related to recycling and solid waste management preferred.
