About The Position

Ready to experience how large-scale engineering and manufacturing projects come to life? As a Recycle and Assembly Intern at Centrus Energy, you’ll gain hands-on exposure to the planning and execution of complex infrastructure and plant projects that support advanced uranium enrichment and facility operations. Working alongside experienced managers, supervisors and technicians you’ll see how engineering design, procurement coordination, and manufacturing come together to deliver mission-critical projects. This internship provides a unique opportunity to understand the manufacture, assembly and delivery of centrifuges for uranium enrichment while building administrative, technical and professional skills that will accelerate your career.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a bachelor’s or graduate program in nuclear, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering, or a related field
  • Interest in large-scale engineering projects, construction, or industrial facility operations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn and contribute in a collaborative technical environment
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting
  • Completion of at least one year of college-level coursework in an engineering, or related program
  • Verification of identity and eligibility to work in the United States
  • Completion of required employment eligibility verification form upon hire
  • Pre-employment background check
  • Pre-employment drug test
  • Vetting to ensure Centrus Energy can meet the requirements of 10 CFR Parts 810 and 1017 to grant access to export-controlled information and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information, respectively

Responsibilities

  • Assist managers, supervisors and technicians in reviewing design documents
  • Track project schedules
  • Support technical documentation
  • Coordinate with quality control, engineering and assembly teams
  • Analyze engineering data
  • Review drawings and specifications
  • Assist with project reporting
  • Participate in the manufacture and assembly of centrifuges used for uranium enrichment
  • Evaluate administrative documents (procedures, training and engineering data) against an NRC license to ensure safety and regulatory compliance
  • Learn all technical aspects of centrifuge design and how this information transitions into real-world manufacture of parts and assembly of the centrifuge
  • Present key contributions and lessons learned to the team at the end of the summer
