About The Position

The Department of Recreational Sports is seeking Officials & Scorekeepers to join their team and promote lifelong wellbeing. This role involves officiating Intramural Sports contests, enforcing RecSports policies for participant safety and satisfaction, and building professional relationships. Requirements

University of Florida student
Minimal experience required
Basic knowledge of sports is desired
Complete and maintain UF online certifications in GET803, OOC101, PRV802, ITT102, GET811
Must be eligible to work on campus
Must be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS)
Must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average
Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week
Federal Work Study students are encouraged to apply

Nice To Haves

Officials/Umpires are hired for specific sports and can be hired to work multiple sports

Responsibilities

Develop professional relationships with co-workers, participants, and guests
Uphold and exceed the expectations of the Cornerstones of RecSports Service: accountability, anticipating needs, attitude, and atmosphere
Demonstrate a desire to learn and apply knowledge as a RecSports ambassador
Take ownership of RecSports facilities and programs by exhibiting a responsible work ethic
Promote and maintain cleanliness and appearance within and surrounding RecSports facilities
Enforce RecSports policies and procedures to promote participant safety and satisfaction
Respond to all emergency situations and adhere to established protocol including pre- and post- incident procedures
Abide by the RecSports Student Staff Code of Conduct
Enforce sport rules during competition
Communicate with Scorekeepers and Supervisors as necessary to facilitate game contests in an efficient and effective manner
Carry out responsibilities at Intramural Sports contests (specific sports listed for Fall, Spring, Summer)
Document the score and general game statistics to ensure equitable and fair play
