About The Position

In alignment with the College's mission and values, the Recruiting Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing recruitment strategies that support enrollment growth and student success. The position serves prospective students through outreach and enrollment support activities, with a particular emphasis on adult learners and individuals seeking to begin or return to postsecondary education. The Recruiting Specialist serves as a key resource for prospective students by providing information regarding academic programs, admissions requirements, financial aid opportunities, and student support services. The position works collaboratively with internal and external partners to promote access to higher education and support student enrollment, persistence, and completion. The Recruiting Specialist plays an active role in promoting the Tennessee Reconnect scholarship program and coordinating efforts with Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) Reconnect Navigators to support adult learners throughout the enrollment process. The Recruiting Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of Recruiting and Orientation.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree required
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws, Tennessee Board of Regents, institutional and TACRAO policies, procedures, and guidelines governing admissions, records, and financial aid.
  • Must have valid Driver’s License, be able to operate a class C motor vehicle.
  • Extensive travel-must have own vehicle.
  • Ability to travel throughout campus and service region to attend events, meetings, and trainings.
  • Ability to lift and transport departmental materials and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized guidance and support to prospective students throughout the recruitment and admissions process.
  • Assist prospective students, including adult learners and returning students, in navigating admissions requirements, enrollment procedures, financial aid opportunities, and available student support services.
  • Promote awareness and understanding of financial aid opportunities including the Tennessee Reconnect scholarship program and other opportunities that support adult learners.
  • Assist with recruiting and orientation events such as, but not limited to, open houses, preview days, Tiger Momentum events, and new student orientation.
  • Conduct follow-up communications with prospective students to encourage application completion, enrollment, and successful transition to the College.
  • Connect prospective students with appropriate campus resources to support informed educational and career decisions.
  • Coordinate closely with Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) Reconnect Navigators to identify, recruit, and support prospective Tennessee Reconnect students.
  • Participate in community outreach events, college fairs, workforce development activities, and Tennessee Reconnect initiatives.
  • Deliver presentations, workshops, and informational sessions regarding admissions, academic programs, financial aid, and student success resources.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding College programs, enrollment procedures, and opportunities available to prospective students.
  • Educate prospective students and community partners about pathways to degree completion, workforce development opportunities, and career advancement through higher education.
  • Maintain current knowledge of admissions policies, academic offerings, financial aid programs, and state-supported student success initiatives.
  • Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to engage prospective students, particularly adult learners.
  • Utilize enrollment and recruitment data to identify trends, assess outcomes, and improve recruitment efforts.
  • Participate in strategic enrollment initiatives designed to increase student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and completion.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to improve the prospective student experience and remove barriers to enrollment.
  • Support the College's strategic enrollment goals through continuous evaluation and enhancement of recruitment practices.
  • Utilize institutional resources responsibly to maximize recruitment effectiveness and enrollment outcomes.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of recruitment events, outreach activities, and marketing initiatives within established budget parameters.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment activities, prospective student interactions, and enrollment outcomes.
  • Provide data and reports to support enrollment management planning and resource allocation decisions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of institutional goals and student success initiatives.
