About The Position

The purpose of this role is to recruit qualified drivers who meet or exceed Marten Transport, Ltd. hiring criteria, in order to maintain maximum equipment staffing levels. This involves interacting with existing drivers and potential drivers daily, as well as Marten Management.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Above average cognitive judgment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, and E-mail.
  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Light lifting.
  • Stooping, bending, listening, and speaking ability.
  • Associates degree or three years applicable experience in the transportation industry or sales.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit qualified drivers, independent contractors, fleet owners, and driver trainees.
  • Interview driver applicants inquiring over the phone and/or Internet for available positions.
  • Make sales presentations about Marten Transport, regarding benefits, pay, equipment, etc. to applicants.
  • Track applicants through the entire application process, including DAC, motor vehicle record, and reference checking.
  • Process and verify histories by calling, faxing, and writing to employment references.
  • Make hiring decisions using hiring criteria to determine qualifications and suitability for employment as a Marten Driver.
  • Notify approved applicants of orientation day schedule and administer travel arrangements for newly hired drivers.
  • Achieve a goal of 3 hires per week.
  • Promote the driver referral program and other recruiting programs.
  • Report to the Recruiting Supervisor on issues and problems as needed.
  • Occasional travel required to recruiting functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
