About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, Domestic Recruitment and Entry Advising, the Recruiter is responsible for a range of activities that showcase George Brown Polytechnic’s (“GBP”) 200+ programs to diverse prospects. As a first point of contact for potential students of GBP, the Recruiter connects and engages with prospective students throughout the prospect to applicant conversion funnel and admission funnel.

Requirements

  • Three-year diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Marketing, Human Resources, or other related field of education or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Province of Ontario Class G driver’s license.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in sales/marketing, public relations, advising or recruiting, preferably in a post-secondary education setting.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships and engaging/influencing groups and individuals with varying interests.
  • Experience with communicating in front of audiences of up to 100 individuals.
  • Proven excellent written and oral communication and public speaking skills.
  • Solid organizational, planning, and time management skills with a high degree of initiative and independence.
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule to accommodate the polytechnic’s various events and activities; overnight travel may be required for recruitment events.
  • Ability to lift between 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., boxes, marketing/display units, etc.).
  • Excellent collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the polytechnic’s priorities on equity, diversity, inclusion and Indigenization (EDII).
  • Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.

Responsibilities

  • Showcase George Brown’s 200+ full-time degree, diploma, certificate and apprenticeship programs.
  • Identify prospective domestic students, and their interests and career goals.
  • Nurtures them through the process to becoming a student.
  • Promotes GBC as a pathway to further studies after program completion.
  • Connects with prospective students in a variety of methods and at various points in the recruitment funnel from prospect to applicant, and represents GBP in a positive, engaging and professional manner.
  • Delivers on an event schedule; makes travel and accommodation arrangements, as required; prepares and transports marketing collateral/give-aways/signage; sets up and tears down displays; while using GBP’s resources to best advantage.
  • Guides students, teachers, principals, guidance counsellors and parent/guardians on post-secondary and career options.
  • Assists with other on-campus and off-campus events as needed, including but not limited to Ontario College Fair (OCF) and the colleges annual
  • Delivers presentations in a variety of settings: small groups, tours, high school events, both in person and online.
  • Other duties as assigned.
