About The Position

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Recreational Therapist for a Full-Time assignment at a correctional facility in Coalinga, CA. This role involves developing and implementing specialized recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. The goal is to promote social interaction, encourage appropriate leisure time utilization, and prepare patients for reentry into the general population or other treatment levels. The therapist will also participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with other professionals. Evaluation of recreation therapy needs will focus on activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.

Requirements

• Must be a Recreational Therapist (RT).
• Must be available for Full-Time assignment.
• Must be flexible for orientation week.
• Must be able to submit a copy of resume.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
• Promote social interaction, encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT).
• Coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and other custody personnel.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
