About The Position

Immanuel Pathways PACE® is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join our team at Pathways Omaha. This role is responsible for providing recreation therapy to older adults, helping them remain independent and engaged through therapeutic programming, assessments, and care planning. The Recreational Therapist will partner with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional participant care. This unique opportunity offers a Monday-Friday daytime schedule with no regular evenings or weekends, evidence-based programming, and support for continuing education and certification.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy or related field required.
  • Experience in therapeutic recreation in an internship, field experience, volunteering, and/or work with older adults or special needs populations.
  • For those working in the state of Nebraska, Completion of Nebraska-certified “Activity Coordinator” course or certified therapeutic recreation specialist within 6 months of hire.
  • For those working in the state of Iowa, must be a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist or willing to obtain the CTRS within 6 months of hire.
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills i.e. Health Care Level Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); Automated External Defibrillator (AED); First Aide (FA).
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or training in geriatrics, including dementia, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recreation therapy to residents.
  • Assess resident leisure interests, abilities, skills, and life history.
  • Plan adaptations and support techniques to help residents achieve their recreation, leisure, and social engagement needs.
  • Implement therapeutic programming.
  • Document and evaluate services provided.
  • Communicate with resident’s family members.
  • Coordinate special events with other departments.
