Recreational Therapist/Activities Director
About The Position
SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital - Neuro Transitional Center in O'Fallon, Missouri, is seeking a Recreational Therapist for its Neuro Transitional Center, which was scheduled to open in mid-first quarter of 2025. The 12-bed center provides intensive rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injuries or spinal cord injuries who cannot safely return home after discharge from an inpatient rehabilitation hospital because of the severity of their impairments. The center reports that 93% of its patients return home at discharge. This role is scheduled every weekend, with the option of working eight hours on Saturday or four hours each on Saturday and Sunday. The therapist plans and leads patient activities, documents care, coordinates weekend activities with the rehabilitation manager, and collaborates with the transdisciplinary team. The position may involve transporting patients on community outings.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
- Current national certification from NCTRC as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
- Current state driver's license in good standing.
- Certified experience in a medical setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement community integration activities and leisure and functional structured activities in the facility based on patient needs.
- Transport patients on community outings as needed.
- Complete electronic medical record documentation.
- Coordinate weekend activities with the rehabilitation manager.
- Participate in team conferences and collaborate with the transdisciplinary team.
