Recreational Sports Specialist
About The Position
Under the direction of the Program Director of Recreational Sports and Student Activities, the Recreational Sports Specialist provides administrative and business operations support and coordinates a comprehensive recreational sports program. The position supports the program’s mission to serve the physical, social, recreational, and lifelong educational needs of the campus community through health, fitness, and learning. The role includes developing new sport programs, coordinating and evaluating existing programs, promoting club teams, managing facility schedules and reservations, maintaining program records and operations, and supervising sport club events. The specialist also recruits players, coaches, and interns and provides ongoing feedback to coaches and interns. The position may require a flexible schedule, travel to different locations, frequent evening and weekend work, and work after hours, including holidays.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, Business, or a related field.
- One year of experience working with Recreational Sports or Student Activities.
- MS Office skills.
Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and implement new sport programs.
- Organize, oversee, and evaluate existing sport programs.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate methods for promoting and publicizing club teams, including designing calendars, flyers, and posters.
- Assist with marketing and promotion of club teams.
- Coordinate facility scheduling and reservations for recreational sport activities.
- Maintain daily business operations, including files, facility security, team registration, student-athlete eligibility evaluations, budgets, and travel.
- Provide on-site supervision for sport club events.
- Maintain the program operations manual and ensure adherence to District and State policies associated with the sport club program.
- Recruit players, coaches, and interns, and provide ongoing feedback to coaches and interns.
- Perform other duties, tasks, and assignments as required.
