This part-time role is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a museum while welcoming visitors, supporting educational programs and special events, helping prepare exhibitions, and assisting with day-to-day museum operations. Under the direction of the Art Museum Manager & Curator, performs various tasks as necessary to provide services for the St. George Museum of Art.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • General Knowledge of Art and Art Museums preferred
  • Friendly and personable attitude
  • Highly motivated
  • Dependable
  • Customer service, problem solving, and effective, active listening
  • Computer literate, primarily all Google & Windows programs
  • Follow Directions
  • Communicate orally in the English language on a one-on-one or group setting basis
  • Maintain an optimistic, friendly, and approachable attitude with museum visitors and staff.
  • Learn and operate museum-specific software
  • Multitask

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service in person and over the phone; answering questions and/or referring customers to appropriate staff members.
  • Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding various city arts and recreation programs and services.
  • Assists Education team with tours, classes, and programming as assigned
  • Assists in Exhibit preparation, including printing and hanging labels, preparing exhibit space, leveling artwork, and more as directed by curator/manager
  • Aids in the promotion and advertising of programs and special events
  • Registers participants for programs, classes, and activities
  • Performs money-handling duties according to City and division policies and procedures
  • General office and clerical duties; Copies and prepares various brochures, flyers, schedules, rosters, etc. for distribution.
  • Organizes, cleans, prepares and maintains museum facilities and other work areas
  • Works programs and special events
  • Handles various tasks and errands to support day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed
  • Follow all city policies and procedures
