The Recreation Therapy Assistant will be responsible for implementing recreation and leisure activities tailored to client preferences, considering their strengths, abilities, and interests. This role involves gathering feedback, communicating with supervisors, charting client participation, and evaluating program effectiveness. The assistant will also ensure recreation areas and equipment are clean, safe, and well-maintained, and monitor equipment for necessary replacements. Additionally, the role includes creating program plans, developing monthly activity calendars, getting to know clients through life histories and care plan reviews, and fostering community connections for clients. Accurate documentation, monthly reporting on resident participation, and attendance at various meetings and training sessions are key aspects of this position. The assistant will promote Therapeutic Recreation to other departments, collaborate with professionals, and act as a resource for program ideas. Supporting resident involvement in the community, networking with agencies, pursuing educational opportunities, and respecting resident confidentiality, dignity, and autonomy are also crucial. Programs will be implemented on both a one-on-one and group basis.
