About The Position

Open Door Group (ODG) is seeking a Recreational Therapist to join their team at the Thrive location in Vancouver. This role involves providing therapeutic recreation services to clients facing mental health and substance use challenges. The therapist will be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating group programs aimed at enhancing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being of participants. Additionally, the role includes providing individual assessments, planning, and service coordination for program participants.

Requirements

Ability to lead, plan, organize, prioritize, implement and problem-solve.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal effectively with others.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Knowledge of Mental Health and substance use, knowledge of other disabilities.
Ability to work flexible hours.
Two-year Recreation Therapy Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy from a recognized university or college.
Eligibility for membership in British Columbia Therapeutic Recreation Association (BCTRA).
One (1) year's recent related experience working with mental health clients.
Current First Aid Certificate. CPR Level "C" certification.
Valid Class lV BC Driver's License and personal use of care for work.
Must pass a criminal background check.
