About The Position

Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems believes that therapeutic recreation has a unique role in the psychological and behavioral improvement of the adolescents we treat. Our therapeutic recreational staff use individual and group therapy, play, recreation and other activity based interventions to maximize our patient's functioning and promote quality of life. If you have a strong interest in providing quality therapeutic recreation to adolescent boys who have experienced severe personal trauma, this is the job for you. You will be given the autonomy to develop and create a wide range of modalities and facilitation techniques. You will also be working with an awesome team of multidisciplinary professionals that you can rely on to assist you in coordinating a solid foundation of quality care and mental health treatment. We are a part of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), one of the nation's largest and most respected health care providers, operating more than 300 facilities. We are a growing, private residential psychiatric facility that, for more than 30 years has a proven reputation of providing supportive and caring services for adolescents. Requirements

  • Utah TRS certification and CTRS
  • Valid, clean driver's license
  • Thorough understanding of therapeutic activities for varying developmental ranges and be capable of working independently
  • Experience with organizing indoor/outdoor and on/off campus activities
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-hire drug screen and be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 2 years of experience working with adolescents who have behavioral and/or mental health issues, BUT NOT REQUIRED

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementing recreation therapy groups and activities
  • Planning and implementing three, two-hour community integration outings weekly with the possibility of extra adventure programming
  • Complete intake assessments and set therapeutic recreation goals
  • Complete daily progress notes and other documentation
  • Attend monthly department and facility wide meetings
  • Provide crisis de-escalation for residents that may require physical restraint
